START Hospitality Skills Certification Courses
START (Skills, Tasks, and Results Training) developed by AHLEI is a curriculum that gives the real-world knowledge and skills needed for a long-term career in the hospitality industry. Those who complete the START Program and work in a designated hospitality position can earn the line-level certificate and earn a certification lapel pin like the professional lapel pins. These courses for Individual positions offer flexible and concise instructions on how to perform key tasks, along with the general hospitality knowledge, and soft skills needed to succeed in a front-line position at a lodging property. These hospitality skills training programs include activities, printable checklists, and worksheets, to give mastery of required tasks and skills, and include a certification exam for each position.

START Certified Front Desk Representative (CFRD®) – Front Office
A front desk representative's goal is to meet the needs of all guests staying at the hotel and to provide any necessary services to ensure a customer's satisfaction. The Front Desk Representative certification brings the professional clout to the people who are in the front-line with guests. The Front Desk Representative certification recognizes the skills and knowledge needed to succeed as a professional in a front-line position at a lodging property.
START Certified Guestroom Attendant (CGA®) – Housekeeping
The Guestroom Attendant certification brings professional clout to those who maintain high standards of cleanliness in guestrooms and provide guests with service. Position-specific knowledge for guestroom attendant include employee responsibilities, hotel property, safety regulations, quality guest service, the guestroom attendant professional, the responsibilities at the beginning, during, and end of shift and job breakdown for the housekeeping staff. The Guestroom Attendant certification recognizes the skills and knowledge needed to keep guest rooms clean, safe and maintained at a lodging property.
START Certified Restaurant Server (CRS®) – F&B Service
Great food isn't enough to make an outstanding dining experience. That takes great service, too. The Restaurant Server certification brings the professional clout to the people who are in the front-line with guests. Position-specific knowledge for restaurant services includes employee responsibilities at the property, safety regulations, quality guest service during pre-meal, during the Meal and after the meal. Also end of shift responsibilities and job breakdowns for restaurant sever. The Restaurant Server certification recognizes the skills and knowledge needed to keep guest rooms clean, safe and maintained at a lodging property.
START Certified Kitchen Cook (CKC®) – Kitchen Management
The Certified Kitchen Cook credential recognizes the skills and knowledge needed to succeed as a professional in a back-of-the-house position at a foodservice operation. Position-specific knowledge for Kitchen Cook includes safety guidelines; sanitation rules; culinary terms; standard recipe development; plate presentation; and how to handle special requests, substitutions, and complaints from guests. The Kitchen Cook certification recognizes the skills and knowledge needed to succeed as a food preparation professional in a foodservice operation.
